Abstract
a promover dietas e sistemas agroalimentares sustentáveis.
alimentar
If there is a general agreement about the anthropogenic nature of current Climate Change (CC), when we focus on greenhouse gas diffuse emissions specifically related with diet, this consensus disappears. The population has a limited perception about Diet-CC connection. There is also a lack of media attention and educative treatment about this binomial. Facing diet as a set of consumption patterns to satisfy food needs, it is mediated by socioeconomic and cultural factors, as well as external influences like publicity. Therefore, diet is also understood as a social construction linked to agrifood systems that provide them and which produce negative impacts along their productionconsume cycle, with a special incidence on the contribution to CC. Given the complex connection between diet and CC, this paper take a multidisciplinary approach to explore firstly diverse dimensions of the connection between diet and agrifood systems, by one hand, and CC, by the other. Secondly, we share and justify the need of addressing this issue through a sociocritical Environmental Education (EE). Finally, we present some research and action lines in EE oriented to promote sustainable diets and agrifood systems. We expect to contribute with these research lines and experiences as tools for a social decarbonization through the food dimension
