Abstract
The Eating Attitude test (EAT) and a self-report questionnaire measuring body image were administrated to 220 adolescents from La Coruña (Spain). The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between eating attitudes and other variables such as sex, body weight, body self-evaluation, body satisfaction as well as being worried about one’s weight and diet. Those subjects who perceived themselves as obese, those who have been on restrictive diets in order to lose weight anytime during their life and those who were on frequent diets showed higher scores on the EAT. The fact that the girls are the most affected group underlies the significant role of the Occidental culture and the slenderness in the origin and maintenance of the Eating Disorders
