Abstract
From the age of two, one of the psychological characteristics of children is egocentrism. This period is overcome through the different situations of play or daily life, and, in this context, the infant school plays a very important role. In this study, an experience of constructive play is presented in a school from zero to three years old. Using the wooden unit blocks, a workshop is carried out with six children. The main objectivevis focused on identifying how toddlers from two to three years old relate during play, describing what kind of social participation and behavior is present. Furthermore, it is also intended to know the opinions of the tutors on the social relations of the children in this process. Using a mixed methodology (quantitative and qualitative), a case study is performed, observation being the main method and the interview the complementary technique. The results of the study showed that the unit block play, when organized as a workshop, shows a high number of social relationships between children, providing an ideal place for interactions between them. Toddlers build as a group and in parallel, establishing interaction situations during play that involve observation, communication, imitation… which leads them to overcome their egocentric stage. Moreover, this type of construction workshop could provide the acquisition of high-level social and cognitive skills
