The homotopic distance is a new topological invariant, which generalizes the Lusternik Schnirelmann Category and Farber’s Topological Complexity. One application of this notion is to solve a generalized motion planning problem in robotics. The main properties and applications as well as calculation methods of these invariants will be given in the work.
