Abstract
The number of international displaced persons has exceeded expectations for the middle of this century, turning European countries as receiving for foreign people. Nonetheless, migration studies in Galicia have focus on emigration instead of immigration, so there is a theoretical gap in the study of immigration in this Community. Simultaneously, research on the migratory process has overlooked the importance of gender in the different phases of this process. Overcoming these limitations, this research aims to analyse the migration process of migrant women in Galicia from a gender perspective, focusing on two specific phenomena: the motivations for migration and post-migration stressors. For so, four focus groups were carried out with 26 migrant women participating on them. These groups lead to the obtention of qualitative information which analysis was based on ground theory. The main results allow us to say that migration is not a gender-neutral process but reflects gender inequalities in the configuration of migratory project as well as in the post-migration stressors faced by women in Galicia
