Sobre educación e identidad nacional

Abstract

El objetivo de este artículo es reflexionar sobre el papel de la escuela en los procesos de nacionalización. Sin negar la importancia del papel jugado por los sistemas educativos, se considera que un acercamiento de arriba a abajo no presta atención al proceso por el que los y las receptoras de esta acción la reciben, la integran y la hacen suya. Por ello, una vez presentadas algunas aportaciones relevantes que han ayudado a construir un marco interpretativo sobre el papel nacionalizador de la escuela, se plantea tomar en consideración otros aspectos relacionados en la conformación de la identidad nacional en el alumnado. Se propone prestar atención a la práctica docente, al desarrollo psicológico de los estudiantes y su conocimiento del medio social y la importancia del contexto social y político en este procesoThe aim of this article is to reflect on the role of schools in nationalisation processes. Without denying the importance of the role played by education systems, it is considered that a “top-down” approach does not pay attention to the process by which the recipients of this action receive it, integrate it and make it their own. Therefore, after present some relevant contributions that have helped to build an interpretative framework on the nationalising role of the school, it is suggested to take into consideration other aspects related to the shaping of national identity in students. It is proposed to pay attention to teaching practice, the psychological development of children and their knowledge of their social environment, and the importance of the social and political context in this process
