Abstract
This work shows the need to have a validated attributions questionnaire for the detection of plagiarized content in academic writing by PhD students (CUDECO-DOU). The study is based on previous research that propose to study plagiarism according to the academic level of the students, as well as the factors that characterize this educational stage. Using a sample of 309 PhD students, a reliability analysis and an exploratory factor analysis of the questionnaire were conducted. The results obtained show that the instrument is reliable and that the five-factor factorial structure (usefulness, previous plagiarism behaviors, causes, lecturing staff, peers) coincides with the theoretical structure proposed. Therefore, this is a valuable tool for the diagnosis of plagiaristic behaviours of PhD students, quantifying students’ perceptions objectively with a view to the planning and implementation of plagiarism prevention strategies
