Influencia de los flujos migratorios contemporáneos en España

Abstract

Contemporary economic migration flows show a South-North pattern (from low-income countries to high income countries).Although, these flows exist since the mid-eighties of the twentieth century, they have intensified in recent decades. For this reason, there are causes to explain the persistence of these flows over time and others to explain their recent intensification. The first causes would be related to the duality of development and under-development while the second ones with the globalization process. Consequently, the social, political and legislative changes influence its management. Therefore, this thesis attempts to answer the following questions: What are the characteristics of migration in Spain?, what is its magnitude and trend in recent years?, what were the determinants of irregular immigration in Spain?; are restrictive policies an incentive for irregular immigrants?, what is the probability of being an irregular immigrant?.
