Abstract
Education is considered vital for the economic and social development of every country. Regional governments have created different prizes in order to measure the performance of students. One of them is the extraordinary award of secondary education (also known as ESO in Spain), which consists on a written exam for students whose average mark during all four of secondary education years is outstanding. In this paper we analyze the results achieved by the students in this exam through the comparison between boys’ and girls’ performances, which establishes a set of hypotheses in order to analyze whether performance on these tests is different according to gender. To verify those hypotheses, we have used the comparative method through independent samples, with Levene’s test.
