La relación artes-educación: educamos con las artes y hay educación artística común, específica y especializada

Abstract

Conocer artes, enseñar artes y educar con las artes son tres expresiones que tienen distinto significado. La pedagogía como disciplina del conocimiento de la educación distingue conocer, enseñar y educar. El punto de partida es que hay conocimientos que no generan acción y hay enseñanzas que no educan.

La pedagogía tiene que valorar educativamente cada área de experiencia cultural que utiliza para educar. Las artes son un área de experiencia cultural que es cognoscible, enseñable, investigable y realizable y podemos educar con las artes. A la pedagogía le corresponde valorar cada área cultural como educación y construirla como “ámbito de educación”.

Es objetivo de la pedagogía transformar la información en conocimiento y el conocimiento en educación, construyendo ámbitos de educación desde las diversas áreas culturales; y las artes son un área de experiencia cultural que puede constituirse en objeto y meta de la educación.

La relación artes-educación puede ser analizada con criterio pedagógico y esto significa que la educación artística es sustantivamente educación; es en primer lugar “educación” y tiene que aportar valores vinculados al significado propio de la educación igual que cualquier otra materia educativa. Además, la educación artística es adjetivamente “artística” y esto significa que aporta, por una parte, valores educativos específicos vinculados al sentido conceptual propio del área de experiencia artística y, por otra, valores educativos especializados vinculados al conocimiento teórico, tecnológico y práctico de las artes como área de desarrollo profesional y vocacional.

El objetivo de este artículo es contribuir a formar criterio acerca de la educación artística en el sentido genérico de entender las artes como ámbito común, específico y especializado de educación. Es posible hablar de educación artística común, educación artística específica y educación artística especializada. Esa distinción es relevante para hacer el diseño educativo del ámbito de educación ‘artes’.

To know arts, teach arts and educate with The Arts are three expressions which have different meaning. Pedagogy as discipline of knowledge of education distinguishes to know, teach and educate. The starting point is that there are knowledges which do not generate action and there are teachings which do not educate. Pedagogy has to value educationally each area of cultural experience that uses to educate. The Arts are an area of cultural experience which is cognisable, teachable, researchable and attainable and we can educate with The Arts. It corresponds to the Pedagogy to value each cultural area as education and to create it as education field. It is an aim of the Pedagogy to transform information into knowledge and knowledge into education, by creating fields of education from diverse cultural areas; and The Arts are an area of cultural experience which becomes in mean and goal of the education. The Arts-Education Relationship can be analyzed with pedagogical criterion and this means that arts education is substantively education; it is in the first place “education” and it has to contribute values linked to the appropriate meaning of the education, as any other educational matter do. Besides, arts education is adjectively “artistic” and this means that, on the one hand, it provides specific educational values linked to the own conceptual sense of the artistic experience area and, on the other hand, it provides specialised educational values linked to the theoretical knowledge, technological and practical of The Arts as an area of professional and vocational development. The aim of this article is to contribute to form criterion about Arts education in the generic sense to understand The Arts as a field of common, specific and specialised education. It is possible to speak of common arts education, specific arts education and specialised arts education. This distinction is relevant to make the educational design of the field of education “Arts”.
