Abstract
Psychopathic traits are manifested at an early age, identifying a group of high-risk children/adolescents with more severe and persistent trajectories of conducts problems and with specific intervention needs. We now know that these children show deficits in emotional recognition, but there is no consensus as to the extent of their generalizability or their specificity to specific emotions, nor about the potential attention deficits underlying. The present systematic review aims to bring together the existing scientific corpus on the subject and to answer this question. The results confirm the existence of deficits in the recognition of emotions in general and, more specifically, of distress emotions, a deficit that transcends all modalities of emotion presentation and all emotional types used. In order to address the treatment of this population, we propose the adaptation of a parenting programme with special emphasis on the positive and socioemotional reinforcement of children together with attentional training that allows them to obtain emotional cues and adapt their behaviour to them
