Abstract
Ao longo deste traballo faremos unha introducción aos conceptos fundamentais do cálculo de variacións. Comezaremos por expoñer os exemplos clásicos que fomentaron o desenvolvemento posterior, que nos levará ao resultado clave da materia, a ecuación de Euler-Lagrange. Veremos algúns exemplos concretos e a súa resolución, así como posibles xeralizacións a funcionais con derivadas superiores e funcións de n variables. Posteriormente tamén se tratarán aplicacións a problemas reais que xorden na física ou na enxeñaría.
Along this work we will do an introduction to the most relevant concepts regarding the calculus of variations. We will begin with the classical examples that encouraged further development, which will lead us to the key result: the Euler-Lagrange equation. We will study a few specific cases and their resolution, as well as possible generalizations to higher-order derivatives and ndimensional functions. Subsequently, we will also address real-life applications to problems that appear in physics or engineering.
