Abstract
y hombres mayores. Aunque son los hombres
quienes reconocen una mayor preocupación
por la disminución en la frecuencia de
las prácticas sexuales, una disminución
significativamente más pronunciada en la
frecuencia de estas prácticas en el último
año ocurre entre las mujeres. Pese a estas
diferencias, un número importante de
personas mayores se mantiene sexualmente
activo y satisfecho.
Although it seems indisputable that sexuality is an important part of people’s lives and well-being, research on sexual practices in older people is still scarce. The main objective of this work is to analyze the differences between men and women in terms of sexual activity during the last year and regarding the type of practices and sexual satisfaction. The correlational and cross-sectional study is implemented through a questionnaire survey. Sexual activity, in general, and the type of sexual practice in particular, as well as the frequency of such practices, reflect relevant differences between older women and men. Although it is men who acknowledge a greater concern about the decrease in the frequency of sexual practices, a significantly more pronounced decrease in the frequency of these practices in the last year occurs among women. Despite these differences, a significant number of older people remain sexually active and satisfied.
