Abstract
This study examines post-compulsory secondary education teachers’ perceptions regarding the role of school and school time in students’ leisure, the use of school facilities during out-ofschool hours and the influence of the school day on students’ free time. A questionnaire was applied to 516 Spanish teachers. Findings revealed that less than half of the teachers had a positive attitude towards leisure education from school and the use of school facilities during out-of-school hours. They consider that school time has little influence on students’ free time. The effects of gender, age, experience and school administration (public vs private) were studied.
