Abstract
In this work, a study of all the internal variation which underlies a concrete proposal of formalization of verbal phrases in Spanish is carried out. Among this variation, with the objective of isolating exclusively the information considered relevant for the contextualization of verbal phrases in a sequence of syntactic functions (predicate and complements), we find and reduce some linguistic phenomena which are relevant from the point of view of meaning as well as other phenomena which are not. We show in this way how the concept of variation, by the nature itself of the work of formalization in its current state of development, is a relative concept, dependent on the degree of detail that we can and want to reach with respect to a concrete linguistic structure in a concrete formalization of it.
