El sistema urbano de Galicia a principios del siglo XXI: una síntesis geográfica

Abstract

A principios del siglo XXI prácticamente el 66% de la población gallega vive en municipios considerados urbanos, que ocupan solo el 12% de la superficie total de Galicia. Los continuos flujos migratorios y el progresivo despoblamiento del medio rural, junto con otros factores históricos y socioeconómicos, han contribuido al crecimiento de las principales ciudades y villas, configurando un sistema urbano policéntrico con diferentes tipologías de asentamientos: desde regiones y áreas urbanas hasta cabeceras y nodos territoriales. Profundizar en sus características y abordar las principales estrategias de gestión y cooperación territorial que deben impulsarse, constituye el contenido esencial de esta investigaciónAt the beginning of the 21st century practically 66% of the Galidan population Uve in municipalities considerad urban, wich only cover the 12% of Galicia surface.
