Abstract
Tener una identidad vocacional bien definida es fundamental para el desarrollo del sentido global de identidad, por lo que este constructo ha sido objeto de estudio de muchos investigadores. El presente trabajo se realizó con el ánimo de satisfacer tres objetivos. El primero, estudiar las propiedades psicométricas de la versión española del VISA (fiabilidad, validez concurrente y discriminante e invarianza por sexo e invarianza por rama) en una muestra de estudiantes universitarios. El segundo, explorar los estados de identidad vocacional para la muestra de universitarios españoles. Y, el tercero, estudiar la relación de los estados de identidad vocacional medidos con el VISA y diversas variables personales y académicas. Las principales conclusiones que se han podido extraer fueron: (1) el VISA muestra unas buenas propiedades psicométricas, mejores que el clásico MVS, (2) hay tres estados de identidad vocacional (moratoria, exclusión y difuso) que aparecen independientemente del contexto, (3) la identidad vocacional se relaciona con la personalidad proactiva y la autoeficacia en la toma de decisiones, (4) el pertenecer a un estado u otro está relacionado con el nivel de confianza en alcanzar los objetivos profesionales, y (5) gran parte de los universitarios se ha comprometido con su elección vocacional con poca o ninguna duda
Having a well-defined vocational identity is essential for the development of the global identity, so it has been subject of study for many researchers. This work was carried out in order to satisfy three aims. The first aim was evaluating the psychometric properties of the Spanish version of VISA (reliability, concurrent and discriminant validity and invariance across sex and invariance across field) in a sample of college students. The second one was exploring the vocational identity status for the sample of Spanish college students. The third aim was studying the relationship between the vocational identity status measured with VISA and several personal and academic variables. The main conclusions obtained were: (1) the VISA shows good psychometric properties, better than the classic MVS, (2) there are three vocational identity status (moratorium, foreclosed and diffused) that appear in every context, (3) vocational identity is related to proactive personality and career decision self-efficacy, (4) participants in one status or another differ in the level of confidence in reaching professional goals, and (5) many college students are engaged with their vocational choice with little or no doubt
