Abstract
The use of beeswax, which is linked to traditional beekeeping, was historically an important activity in rural areas. As a result, various heritage sites related to the pressing of this bee product are still preserved today. In this regard, the aim of this study is to identify and analyse the main technological elements of beeswax pressing, namely beam press wax mills. The study area corresponds to the Northwest of the Iberian Peninsula, covering Galicia, Asturias, part of Castilla León and North Portugal. In the study, several documentary sources have been reviewed, and fieldwork has been carried out. The research has identified 14 beam press wax presses in the study area. Elements linked to beeswax bleached have also been identified. The research concludes that these beekeeping infrastructures are elements of great relevance, uniqueness, and interest, and therefore need to be protected and preserved.
