La presente contribución analiza la figura del ideólogo, teórico social, economista y estudioso de la educación comparada internacional Ramón de la Sagra (1798- 1871). De origen gallego e iniciados sus estudios universitarios en Santiago, pronto su escenario se trasladará a Madrid, donde será uno de los fundadores del Ateneo. Profesor universitario y naturalista en La Habana. Observador de las reformas sociales en los EEUU (1835). Viajero, luego, por Europa en busca de las diversas expresiones de reforma social. Escritor. Estudioso y difusor, además de «contertulio», de Arhens, Cousin, Hippolyte Colins, Engels o Proudhon (con quien mantuvo empresas sociales comunes en los días de París de 1848-1849), entre otras figuras reconocibles en el campo de la economía política y de la teoría social. Diputado liberal español. Promotor en Madrid de las primeras escuelas infantiles (1839-1842). Un reformador idealista: una figura atractiva y compleja. The present contribution analyses the figure of the ideologist, social theoretician, economist and international comparative education scholar, Ramón de la Sagra (1798-1871). Originally from Galicia and having begun his university studies in Santiago, he soon moved to Madrid, where he would become one of the founders of the Ateneo.
