Eine korpusbasierte Analyse des deutschen Richtungsadverbs vorbei aus morpho-syntaktischer und semantischer Perspektive.

Abstract

Der Aufsatz stellt eine umfassende, gebrauchsbasierte Analyse des Richtungsadverbs vorbei dar, das bislang wenig Aufmerksamkeit erhalten hat. Als Datengrundlage der Untersuchung dient das PaGeS-Korpus, ein umfangreiches Korpus zeitgenössischer Texte. Der morpho-syntaktische Status von vorbei wird kritisch beleuchtet, wobei seine umstrittene Zuordnung als Wortbildungs¬element oder syntaktische Kombinationsstruktur betrachtet wird. Die zahlreichen strukturellen und syntaktischen Varianten der vorbei-Phrasen werden detailliert beschrieben, wobei auf ihre topologischen Eigenschaften sowie auf ihre syntaktischen Funktionen eingegangen wird. Der Schwerpunkt der Arbeit liegt auf der semantischen Analyse der vorbei-Konstruktionen. Im Rahmen der kognitiven Semantik von Talmy und der Metapherntheorie von Lakoff und Johnson werden die Konstruktionen beschrieben, die sowohl faktische als auch abstrakte Bewegungen zum Ausdruck brin-gen. Besonderes Augenmerk wird dabei auf den temporalen Gebrauch von vorbei gelegt.

The paper presents a comprehensive, usage-based analysis of the directional adverb vorbei, which has received little attention thus far. The PaGeS corpus, an extensive corpus of contemporary texts, serves as the data source for this investigation. The morpho-syntactic status of vorbei is critically examined, with a focus on its contentious classification as either a word-formation element or a syntactic combina-tion structure. The numerous structural and syntactic variations of the vorbei-phrases are detailed, and their topological properties and syntactic functions are also discussed. The main focus of the paper lies in the semantic analysis of the vorbei-constructions. Within the frame-work of Talmy's cognitive semantics and Lakoff and Johnson's metaphor theory, constructions that express both factual and abstract motion are described. Particular attention is paid to the temporal use of vorbei.
