Abstract
The author analyzes some versions of the life or legend of Saint Mary of Egypt that were published in Spain (not only printed, but also staged or orally diffused) between the mid-Seventeenth and the early Nineteenth centuries, focusing mainly on the aspects that inscribe them in the social codifications of exemplarity and infamy.
