Lope, “romancista bachillerejo y atrevido y sin arte”: las notas críticas sobre el Isidro

Abstract

El presente artículo analiza y da a conocer una muestra significativa del contenido de las notas críticas anónimas y manuscritas sobre el Isidro de Lope de Vega, recientemente descubiertas y aún mayoritariamente inéditas. Las apostillas denuncian dos grandes problemas: el abuso de la erudición y la ignorancia del Fénix; por el otro, los vicios gramaticales, retóricos y métricos, asunto este último en el que se centra esta aportación. Los ocasionales elogios al ingenio de Lope no mitigan la impugnación global de su poema épico sacroThe present article analyses and presents a significant sample of the content of the anonymous and handwritten critical notes on Lope de Vega's Isidro, recently found and still mostly unpublished. The apostilles denounce two major problems: on the one hand, the abuse of erudition and ignorance of the Fénix; on the other, the grammatical, rhetorical and metrical vices, the latter being the focus of this contribution. Occasional praise for his wit does not mitigate the overall impugnation of his sacred epic poem.
