Abstract

A total of 37 articles extracted from databases such as PubMed and PsycInfo that relate alcohol consumption and sexual violence in women were selected. The articles were divided into seven categories: sexual abuse in childhood, sexual violence in adulthood, sexual orientation, mediating and moderating variables, intervention programs, alcohol consumption prior to sexual assault, protection strategies and coping strategies. Taking into account the results from the review, a prevention program aimed at women that have been victims of sexual violence is proposed to prevent problematic alcohol consumption and the difficulties derived from it, as well as to reduce the use of alcohol in those who are already consumers and reduce the risk of sexual revictimization
