La fase final de la transgresión holocena en el NO Peninsular

Abstract

El análisis de seis secuencias edafo-sedimentarias obtenidas en el islote Areoso (ría de Arousa), ha permitido interpretar la evolución paleoambiental del sector y los cambios del nivel del mar desde el Holoceno Medio. En Areoso se identifica un cambio entre condiciones continentales hacia un ambiente costero entre 6000 años BP y 4000 años BP, mientras que el nivel del mar relativo alcanzaría cotas semejantes a las actuales entre 3500 años BP y 3200 años BP. Los resultados obtenidos se han comparado con otros estudios realizados en el NO de la Penísula Ibérica, mejorando la interpretación sobre la fase final de la transgresión holocena a escala regional.

The analysis of six edapho-sedimentary sequences obtained on the Areoso island (ría de Arousa) has allowed us to interpret the paleoenvironmental evolution of the sector and the changes in sea level since the Middle Holocene. In Areoso, a change from continental conditions towards coastal is identified between 6000 cal. BP and 4000 cal. BP, while the relative sea level would be at levels similar to the current ones between 3500 cal. BP and 3200 cal. BP. The results obtained have been compared with other studies carried out in the NW of the Iberian Peninsula, improving the interpretation of the final phase of the Holocene transgression a regional scale.
