Abstract

First records of the short-snouted seahorse Hippocampus hippocampus from Galician waters (NW Spain) are reported. Nine adult specimens (3 males and 6 females) between 118-183 mm standard length (SL) were identified combining morphological and molecular approaches. Specimens were caught during scuba diving surveys carried out between 2010 and 2012. These records constitute valuable information to be considered in assessment measures of H. hippocampus populations for conservation purposes
