Abstract
Bullying is an important public health problem whose interest has grown in recent years. The importance of their study is that when this occurs, the normal development process of children and adolescents can be interrupted. In the present work an updated bibliographic review has been carried out with the objective of integrating the most relevant research since 2010 about the associations of bullying victimization with the mental health of the victims. The results show that victimization is associated, both in the short and long term, with both internalizing and externalizing symptoms, as well as that these associations are moderated by different factors, both individual and family. Finally, an intervention proposal has been prepared that takes into account these variables and whose objective is to reduce the distress of the victims as well as to provide them with coping and emotional regulation strategies that in turn prevent the victimization from recurring in the future
