Abstract
Creative industries tend to concentrate geographically, forming creative regions due to different factors. Soft factors seem to play a minor role at the European level, which have not been extensively studied. This paper examines this role and analyses whether regions with similar levels of other factors have higher concentrations of creative industries. A two-stage analysis is carried out. The first stage consists of a cluster analysis, to obtain groups of regions similar in other factors, and the second stage is the estimation of three econometric models that explain the concentration of creative industries by including a dummy variable for each group and soft factor variables. It is concluded that soft factors are relevant in explaining the concentration of creative industries by differentiating regions with similar levels in the remaining factors.
