Vidas de santas: una aproximación a las biografías de mujeres en el campo literario peninsular

Abstract

Las biografías de mujeres constituyen uno de los fenómenos editoriales más destacados de los últimos años en el mercado del libro infantil. Este artículo analiza un corpus de treinta de estas obras, pertenecientes a diversos ámbitos lingüísticos en el marco peninsular, con dos objetivos principales. Por un lado, se trata de establecer cuáles son las principales tipologías textuales dentro de este género, con el fin de comprobar si se pueden identificar una serie de tendencias principales y si existen coincidencias entre los campos literarios implicados. Por otro lado, se lleva a cabo una reflexión sobre el verdadero alcance subversivo de estas biografías y hasta qué punto pueden considerarse obras feministas, tal como parecen indicar algunos de sus paratextos.

Biographies of women are one of the most important publishing phenomena in the children’s book market in recent years. This article analyses a corpus of 30 of these works published in the different languages of the Iberian peninsula. The survey has two main objectives. On the one hand, the aim is to establish the main textual typolo gies in the sample, in order to determine whether a series of main trends can be identified and whether there are coincidences between the literary fields involved. On the other hand, we reflect on the true subversive scope of these biographies, considering to what extent they can be seen as feminist children’s books, as some of their paratexts seem to indicate.
