Abstract
arrastramos a nuestras espaldas.
This paper is divided into two main parts: the first of these will analyze the critical attitude that the Lebanese author Amin Maalouf develops in his work, but concretely speaking, from his novel The first century after Beatrice and onwards. For that we must turn back to the Century of Reason, the Enlightenment, walk through the shadows of Romanticism, and finally arrive at the crisis that the 20th Century brought forth and that is still a challenge to overcome in present times. The second part, on the other hand, presents the author’s proposed solutions to this problematic, the same which can befound within the philosophical framework of famous postmodern thinkers such as Habermas, Bauman, Foucault, and Dainotto, amongst others
