Abstract
Domingo Fontán Rodríguez, catedrático de matemáticas sublimes de la Universidad de Santiago de Compostela y autor de la Carta Geométrica de Galicia, es una de las personalidades históricas de la Galicia del siglo XIX que se han dedicado a la ciencia y al desarrollo económico de su tierra. Aunque ya se han escrito relevantes biografías y trabajos sobre su figura, en el presente artículo se pretende profundizar en el reconocimiento que tuvo en la capital de la Corte y también fuera de las fronteras españolas.
Domingo Fontán Rodríguez, professor of sublime mathematics at the University of Santiago de Compostela and author of the Geometric Chart of Galicia, is one of the historical personalities of the 19th century in Galicia who has dedicated to science and the economic development of their land. Although relevant biographies and works have already been written on his figure, this article aims to deepen the recognition that he had in the capital of the Court and also outside the Spanish borders.
