Abstract
The study ofpsychopathy in adults is a well developedfield, and in recent decades there have been advances in conceptualization, measurement, and etiolology of the disorder. However, the developmental antecedents are not well known and there is no agreement regarding the identification of high-risk children. This study reviews the main lines of research on psychopathy in childhood and adolescence. Special attention is paid to the proposals of Lynam (who attributes particular importance to the co-occurrence of hyperactivity and conduct disorder) and Frick (who extends Hare's bifactorial model to childhood and adolescence). We review the lines of evidence available, discuss critica1 points and suggest further lines of investigation
