Abstract
La hemodialisis domiciliaria es una terapia renal sustitutiva que ofrece ventajas para
el bienestar de los pacientes, pero son pocos los estudios sobre sus beneficios psicosociales.
El objetivo de esta revisión bibliográfica es conocer la prevalencia de diferentes variables
psicológicas, identificando los factores demográficos y clínicos que las determinan, así como
establecer comparaciones con otros tratamientos de remplazo de la función renal. Para ello,
se realizó una revisión de los artículos publicados que aborden el impacto psicosocial de la
hemodiálisis domiciliaria. Esta búsqueda sistemática se llevó a cabo en las bases de datos
MEDLINE, Pubmed, Web of Science y Scopus, desde el 10 de septiembre hasta el 27 de
octubre de 2023, seleccionando 22 estudios empíricos cuantitativos que conforman esta
revisión.
Los resultados indican que la hemodiálisis domiciliaria genera un impacto psicosocial
favorable sobre los pacientes, siendo el trasplante renal superior, la hemodiálisis hospitalaria
inferior y la diálisis peritoneal similar. Además, se encontró que la calidad de vida
relacionada con la salud y la depresión están influidos por diferentes factores demográficos y
clínicos. Finalmente, se recoge una propuesta de intervención cognitivo-conductual, aplicable
en pacientes en hemodialisis domiciliaria con trastorno mixto ansioso-depresivo

Home hemodialysis is a renal replacement therapy that offers advantages for patients’
well-being, but there are few studies on its psychosocial benefits. The aim of this literature
review is to know the prevalence of different psychological variables, to identify the
demographic and clinical factors that determine them and to establish comparisons with other
conventional treatments. For this purpose, a review of the published articles addressing the
psychosocial impact of home hemodialysis was carried out. This systematic search was
carried out in MEDLINE, Pubmed, Web of Science and Scopus databases, from September
10 to October 27, 2023, including 22 quantitative empirical studies that make up this review.
The results indicate that home hemodialysis generates a favorable psychosocial
impact on patients, being renal transplantation superior, in-hospital hemodialysis inferior and
peritoneal dialysis similar. In addition, health-related quality of life and depression were
found to be influenced by different demograpgic and clinical factors. Finally, we present a
cognitive-behavioral intervention proposal, applicable to home hemodialysis patients with
mixed anxious-depressive disorder
