Abstract
El objetivo de este trabajo es proporcionar una visión completa y detallada
sobre el proceso de creación de la serie Vikings, dirigida por el productor y guionista
Michael Hirst y emitida tanto en canales de televisión como en plataformas streaming
como Netflix. Este trabajo de fin de Grado se centra en estudiar los contextos de la serie,
sus detalles de producción, su historiografía y en ofrecer un análisis en profundidad de
la primera temporada de la serie. El resultado perseguido es ver cómo y para qué Vikings
representa una realidad medieval ofertada en unos medios audiovisuales de gran
audiencia, destinados al entretenimiento. Este trabajo lo podemos vincular con una
preocupación general de los estudios medievales por la exploración del uso de lo medieval
en la sociedad contemporánea, lo que se conoce como Neomedievalismo.
The aim of this work is to provide a complete and detailed overview of the creation process of the series Vikings, directed by producer and screenwriter Michael Hirst and broadcast on both television channels and streaming platforms such as Netflix. This final degree project focuses on studying the contexts of the series, its production details, its historiography and offering an in-depth analysis of the first season of the series. The result pursued is to see how and for what purpose Vikings represents a medieval reality offered in audiovisual media with a large audience, aimed at entertainment. This work can be linked to a general preoccupation of medieval studies with the exploration of the use of the medieval in contemporary society, known as Neomedievalism.
