Item type: Item , Postmodernidad y temporalidad social(Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. Servizo de Publicacións e Intercambio Científico, 2003) Carretero Pasín, Ángel EnriqueThe present article investigates in the archaeology of the social modern temporality in one doubly facet: imaginaria and identitaria. Likewise, it analyzes the configuration of both with the constitution of the modernity. Linked to the previous thing, it reveals the outlines definitorious of the emancipating program on which it had been sustained in the modern epoch. The decomposition of the model of future, as fundamental prop on which it was resting the modernity, modifies the perception of the temporality and, in consequence, its relation with a time of liberation. In consequence, the postmodernity toughens up to last end the crisis of the symbolic judeo-cristian universe, for what, opposite to the historical modern, smart lineality for social heterogeneous and fragmentary trends.Item type: Item , Factores de voto en Galicia(Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. Servizo de Publicacións e Intercambio Científico, 2003) Álvarez González, José ManuelThis article is based on empirical data analysing the electoral behaviour of Galicians. The research is centred on the regional elections of 1997 and the general elections of 2000, two political moments that substantiate the present structure of the Galician party system. Using post-electoral studies and the data available in the Galician Political Barometers, we seek to identify the elements and variables that determine the party choice of the voters. The specific focus is to discover the factors influencing voting in the present political panorama and to contrast various analytical perspectives in the political competition scenario of Galicia. This empirical analysis demonstrates the primacy of political factors over sociological determinism.Item type: Item , El monte, el cambio social y la cultura forestal en Galicia(Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. Servizo de Publicacións e Intercambio Científico, 2003) Beramendi Álvarez, PabloThis paper focuses on the interplay between redistributive and electoral politics. The paper develops an argument where the relationship between class and voting is understood as a dynamic process driven by the government policy choices about redistribution. Empirically, it shows how the shape and internal composition of the constituency of the socialist governments changed as a result of the redistributive policies they implemented. In so doing the paper challenges both the thesis about the declining significance of class and the most deterministic conceptions of class voting.Item type: Item , Entre la ciencia política básica y la ciencia política aplicada; de la política a las políticas, del análisis a la gestión(Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. Servizo de Publicacións e Intercambio Científico, 2003) Mansilla, Hugo C. FelipeThis essay deals with the confrontation between universalistic and particularistic principles with regard to collective identities and nationalities in the Third World. Universalistic principles are based on the 18th century rationalism; its most important representative in the field of comparative world history was the Marquis of Condorcet. This current makes no difference between natural and social sciences and does not care for national singularities. Particularistic tendencies are based on relativism. They seek to understand each case by reconstructing ist history. Two moderate representatives of this tendency were G.B. Vico and J.G. Herder. Making a critique of both tendencies the author attempts at a prolific synthesis of them, which are considered as complementary. For instance universal ethics and human rights could build the fundamentals for an effective right to difference.Item type: Item , América Latina: desde el otro lado(Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. Servizo de Publicacións e Intercambio Científico, 2003) Centelles Bolós, FelipeLatin American countries represented the “Promised Land” during the first third of the twentieth century. The “New World” became the hope of many Latin people from this side of the Atlantic Ocean. Nowadays Latin America is immersed in an extremely serious impoverishment process. How could we find solutions to this tarsh reality? A possible answer is, without abandonning oneself to the very local identities, to draw up a project based on common Latin American civilization bases (cultural, economic and political struggle of mass movements) which would guarantee a model of economic and political development specifically belonging to Latin America and would compensate for the globalization dynamics without breaking all the links with the system of the “Single Thought”.Item type: Item , El metacódigo “relevancia/opacidad” en la construcción sistémica de las realidades(Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. Servizo de Publicacións e Intercambio Científico, 2003) Pintos, Juan Luis, 1939-Recently, I have been challenged by the different paradoxes that assaulted me in the construction of the social Theory of the Imaginary and of an operative model of constructive analysis of Medias’ products. It has taken me to it to rethinking the theoretical marks in those that the basic references of the social conceptualisation of the Imaginary ones could be located. Finally, after several discussions maintained with Chilean colleagues, I have been able to end up formulating the function that the Social Imaginary play in societies defined by the functionally differentiated systems. That role could put on in parallel with the distinction inclusion / exclusion that doesn’t generate a system functional matter but rather it works as metacode in each one of the systems to maintain an open and closed operation of each one of the functional differences. The Social Imaginary, through the distinction relevance / opacity constitutes the form in that do autodescription the different systems, in its different means, contributing from that way to build what one can take as guaranteed reality for the individuals located in the environment. Through that form the individuals can irritate to the system in order to produce more functional answers.Item type: Item , Bienestar individual e interés por la política(Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. Servizo de Publicacións e Intercambio Científico, 2003) Vilas Nogueira, JoséThis paper provides a discussion of some determinant factors of the relationship between individual well-being and political involvement. How individual well-being influences political interest? First, political interest may to embrace different dimensions. The author suggests to keep two, one cognitive and one evaluative. A better equipment of ressources for individual it is associated to a greater (cognitive) political interest, but is doubtful his influence on attitudes toward practical involvement. On one hand, it seems may to realize a positive association. But, on the other hand, increase of “existential security”, his projection in “postmaterialist” values and, generally, a better individual equipment of ressources seem to correspond with phenomena of eroding deference toward authority and increase of unconventional forms of political participation. If democracy and political stability were simple fonction of greater individual well-being, these phenomena should be welcome. But, this relation of causality don’t had proved. If, in contrast, most likely, the relation of causality is mutual, those phenomena throw shadows on democracy’s future, and on the same individual well-being.
