AB La teoría de la mente (ToM por sus siglas en inglés) hace referencia a la capacidad de atribuir estados mentales a otros. Muchas condiciones presentan déficits graves en esta capacidad y se ha relacionado con dificultades en el funcionamiento social, incluyendo la epilepsia del lóbulo temporal (ELT) y del lóbulo frontal (ELF). Sin embargo, no existe un protocolo que permita evaluar la ToM en la ELT y la ELF, por lo que este trabajo tiene el objetivo de hacer una revisión de la literatura que examine los test más adecuados para medir la ToM y hacer la propuesta de un protocolo. La revisión mostró que los adultos con ELT y ELF presentan déficits graves de ToM a pesar de la heterogeneidad de los test. Estos déficits no suelen estar relacionados con las variables de la epilepsia y son independientes de otras funciones cognitivas. Los test más adecuados para medir la ToM son el Faux Pas Test (FPT) y el Movie for the Assesment of Social Cognition (MASC), por lo que el protocolo propuesto incluye estos dos test. Sin embargo, es necesario el desarrollo de test adecuados con más de una forma para medir cambios dinámicos en la ToM
AB Theory of Mind refers to the ability to atribuye mental states to others. Many conditions present severe déficits in this ability and it has been related with difficulties in social functioning, including temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) and frontal lobe epilepsy (FLE). However, there is no protocol to assess ToM in TLE and FLE, so this paper aims to conduct a literature review examining the most appropriate tests to measure ToM and to make a proposal for a protocol. The review showed that adults with TLE and FLE present severe ToM deficits despite the heterogeneity of the tests. These deficits are usually unrelated to epilepsy variables and are independent of other cognitive functions. The most appropriate tests to measure ToM are the Faux Pas Test (FPT) and the Movie for the Assessment of Social Cognition (MASC), so the proposed protocol includes these two tests. However, the development of suitable tests with more than one form is needed to measure dynamic changes in ToM
