RT Dissertation/Thesis T1 Gauge-gravity duality with flavor branes A1 Garbayo Peón, Ana K1 AdS/CFT K1 Holographic K1 D-branes K1 String theory AB Since the holographic duality was proposed by Maldacena in1997 it has been generalised in order to study a wide range ofproblems. One prominent example among the variety ofextensions of the duality is the addition of flavor degrees offreedom as a result of the inclusion of supplementary D-braneson the initial system. The main goal of this thesis is theapplication of the correspondence in two particular situationswhere fields transforming in the fundamental representation ofthe gauge group are taken into account. In order to do so, wewill study a system of intersecting D3 and D5 branes. In thefirst part, we will try to gain some insight into periodicallydriven systems, while the second part will be devoted to theconstruction of a holographic dual that realises anistropy, aswell as a finite baryon density.
