RT Dissertation/Thesis T1 Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) containing Biphenylene and Cyclooctatetraene Units A1 Bello García, Jesús K1 Catalisis K1 Rutenio K1 Cicloadición K1 Cotinos K1 HAPs AB Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are a family oforganic compounds presents around us from oil to interstellarspace, that can be considered as well-defined graphenefragments. Defective PAHs with non hexagonal rings haveemerge as improved scaffolds due to their ability to modify theproperties of their planar analogous. The synthesis of bothsystems generally requires regioselective rings fusions, wheremetal-catalysed annulations have become one of the mostattractive strategies.Throughout this PhD thesis, 1,3- cyclohexadiene nuclei, presents in dihydrobiphenylenes systems, will be exploredtowards annulated systems containing biphenylenes unitsthrough oxidative process. Moreover, synthesis and reactivity ofstrained alkynes species (COTynes) for the formation of PAHswith COT units will also be adressed.
