Firstly, different types of lactoferrin-loaded nanoparticles intended for topical ophthalmic administrationwere developed and proposed as the first pharmacological alternative for the Keratoconus (KC) treatment. On theother hand, idebenone-loaded polymeric implants and microparticles were designed and proposed as newtherapeutic strategies for the treatment of Leber's Hereditary Optic Neuropathy (LHON).
