AB First-order characteristics are essential functions in point processes representing the distribution of events in the corresponding domain. For decades, the inconsistency of the first-order kernel intensity estimator has been an obstacle to perform inference in the point process context. In this work, we develop different procedures to obtain consistent estimators of the first-order intensity function, and we also propose bootstrap procedures to define effective bandwidth selectors. Moreover, these innovations are used in three testing problems: the goodness-of-fit of an appealing model in the literature of point processes with covariates, the nonparametric comparison of first-order intensity functions and a separability test for spatio-temporal point process. We illustrate the above-mentioned procedures with two wildfire data sets in Galicia (NW Spain) and in Canada.
AB Las características de primer orden son funciones esenciales en los procesos puntuales que representan la distribución de eventos en el dominio correspondiente. Durante décadas, la inconsistencia del estimador de intensidad del núcleo de primer orden ha sido un obstáculo para realizar inferencias en el contexto de los procesos puntuales. En este trabajo, desarrollamos diferentes procedimientos para obtener estimadores consistentes de la función de intensidad de primer orden y también proponemos procedimientos bootstrap para definir selectores de ancho de banda efectivos. Además, estas innovaciones se aplican a tres problemas de prueba: la bondad de ajuste de un modelo relevante en la literatura de procesos puntuales con covariables, la comparación no paramétrica de funciones de intensidad de primer orden y una prueba de separabilidad para procesos puntuales espacio-temporales. Ilustramos los procedimientos mencionados con dos conjuntos de datos de incendios forestales en Galicia (noroeste de España) y en Canadá.
