AB Las mujeres son una realidad en el ejercicio actual de la alfarería en Galicia, como lo eran enel pasado, pero sus roles han mutado. Hasta la década de los 60 desempeñaban labores conceptualizadas como auxiliares o de apoyo, pero eran una excepción en fases como el torneado, a la quesolo los varones tenían acceso. En este trabajo analizamos las circunstancias que han posibilitado lafeminización de ese oficio propio de la sociedad rural a finales del siglo XX. Tenemos en cuenta tantola capacidad de agencia de aquellas mujeres que han protagonizado la modificación de los roles degénero tradicionales, como la importancia que las actuaciones de recuperación y puesta en valor deloficio por parte de la Administración han adquirido a la hora de transformar las pautas culturales ylos imaginarios colectivos de la sociedad rural gallega, que definían la percepción de la feminidaden términos que imposibilitaban el desempeño de la alfarería tradicional.
AB Women are a reality in the current practice of pottery in Galicia, as they were in the past, buttheir roles have mutated. Until the decade of the 60s they carried out works conceptualized likeauxiliaries or of support, but were an exception in phases like the turning, to which only the men hadaccess. In this paper we analyze the circumstances that have made possible the feminization of thisoffice proper to rural society at the end of the 20th century. We take into account both the agencycapacity of those women who have carried out the modification of the traditional gender roles, andthe importance that the actions of recovery and valorization of the office by the Administration haveacquired in transforming the Cultural patterns and collective imaginaries of Galician rural society,which defined the perception of femininity in terms that precluded the performance of traditionalpottery.
