RT Dissertation/Thesis T1 Demand side management in the smart grid technology for a sustainable energy transition: investigations, strategies, and approaches A1 Al Muala, Zaid Ayed Moh’d K1 demand response K1 batteries K1 optimization K1 energy management K1 training engineers AB The thesis focuses on advancing energy transition andsustainability. It investigates the factors that might affecthouseholds to adjust energy consumption. It also proposesdemand side management strategies in the smart grid. Thesestrategies provide benefits for energy consumers and theelectric grid by reducing electricity costs, extending thelifetime of local energy systems (solar panels and energystorage systems), and enhancing grid stability. Besides, itproposes approaches for raising awareness about the role ofenergy consumers in enhancing energy transition andsustainability and training future engineers to enhance theirknowledge and skills in line with technology development.
