AB La población de la Unión Europea (UE) envejece, debido al aumento enla esperanza de vida en el último siglo y a la caída de las tasas defertilidad desde la década de 1970. El objetivo de este trabajo esdiseñar un nuevo índice (IpEA_loc) para monitorizar las políticas localesde envejecimiento activo en la UE. Este índice está construido a partirdel Índice Europeo de Envejecimiento Activo (EAI), desarrollado paramedir el potencial de las personas mayores, y una encuesta sobrepolíticas locales de envejecimiento activo en la eurorregión GaliciaNorte de Portugal, ejecutadas entre 2000 y 2012, perteneciente alproyecto europeo «Envejecimiento + Activo», financiado con fondosFEDER (POCTEP 2007-2013). El índice IpEA_loc permite construir unavariable independiente de nivel local que podrá relacionarse con losresultados del EAI en futuros análisis multinivel.
AB The combination of an increase in life expectancy over the last centuryand a decline in fertility rates since the 1970s has led to the ageing ofthe EU population. The purpose of this study is to design a new index tomonitor local active ageing policies in the EU. This index is called theAAI_locp. The European Active Ageing Index (AAI) (developed tomeasure the potential of the older population), and survey on activeageing policies implemented across the Galicia-North PortugalEuroregion at local level from 2000 to 2012 were used in itsconstruction. The survey was part of the “More Active Ageing”European project, which was funded by the ERDF under a EuropeanTerritorial Cooperation programme for the 2007-2013 period. TheAAI_locp provides an independent variable at the local level that couldbe associated to the results of the AAI in future multilevel analyses.
