RT Dissertation/Thesis T1 Diagnosis, prevention and control of emerging and re-emerging diseases in aquaculture A1 Torres Corral, Yolanda K1 Patología K1 Diagnóstico K1 Prevención K1 Control K1 Acuicultura AB The inability of the extractive fishing industry to meet the growing demand for aquatic products has prompted the rapid growth of aquaculture, a trend that has persisted over the last ten years. However, bacterial infections, which cause significant economic losses and pose a risk to human health, are one of the main constraints facing this industry. Therefore, in this PhD work, new methods for the identification and typing of pathogenic bacteria based on the study of their genome and proteome have been developed and tested as an alternative to conventional diagnostic methods. In addition, the efficacy and safety of new vaccines as a prophylactic method for the prevention of bacterial diseases in fish has been studied.
