RT Dissertation/Thesis T1 Modelling tourists' decisionmaking from a cross-cultural perspective A1 Atrio Lema, Yago K1 Culture K1 decision-making K1 cross-cultural K1 choice models K1 tourism AB Decision-making models are widely used tools developed tostudy how agents select their preferred features on conflictivealternatives. Despite the importance given to individualpreferences in decision-making, cognitive biases, emotions orpsychological influences were not studied in the realm ofeconomics till the 70s, with rise of behavioural economics. However, contextual factors like culture from the field of socialpsychology were less studied in the area of economics. Toexplore the influence of culture on decision-making, we use thecase of tourism, where the primary hypothesis is that cultureaffects decision-making. Thus, the aim of the thesis is to mergethe knowledge from decision-making, behavioural economicsand social-psychology in a tourism context to check if cultureaffect decision-making, and how.
