RT Journal Article T1 Magnetic catalysis in flavored ABJM A1 Jokela, Niko A1 Vázquez Ramallo, Alfonso A1 Zoakos, Dimitrios K1 D-branes K1 AdS-CFT Correspondence AB We study the magnetic catalysis of chiral symmetry breaking in the ABJMChern-Simons matter theory with unquenched flavors in the Veneziano limit. We considera magnetized D6-brane probe in the background of a flavored black hole which includes thebackreaction of massless smeared flavors in the ABJM geometry. We find a holographicrealization for the running of the quark mass due to the dynamical flavors. We computeseveral thermodynamic quantities of the brane probe and analyze the effects of the dynamicalquarks on the fundamental condensate and on the phase diagram of the model. Thedynamical flavors have an interesting effect on the magnetic catalysis. At zero temperatureand fixed magnetic field, the magnetic catalysis is suppressed for small bare quark masseswhereas it is enhanced for large values of the mass. When the temperature is non-zero thereis a critical magnetic field, above which the magnetic catalysis takes place. This criticalmagnetic field decreases with the number of flavors, which we interpret as an enhancementof the catalysis PB Springer SN 1029-8479 YR 2014 FD 2014 LK http://hdl.handle.net/10347/21447 UL http://hdl.handle.net/10347/21447 LA eng NO Jokela, N., Ramallo, A.V. & Zoakos, D.
