This studyis aimed at exploring the gender discrimination perceived by women in Spanish prisons. To thisend, a scale for perception of gender discrimination is applied to a sample of incarcerated women.Qualitative data from a questionnaire administered to prison professionals and field notes are alsoused. The results show that incarcerated women perceive the existence of several situations ofdiscrimination related to socio-educational intervention and to the adaptation of prisons to theirunique needs, especially for those housed in male prisons. Prison professionals hold similar viewsand express their concern about the feminization of activities. The study has implications for theprison system and policy makers, including the implementation of gender-responsive programmingin women’s prisons, the development of periodic assessments of the experiences faced by incarceratedwomen, and the training of prison staff PB MDPI YR 2024 FD 2024 LK http://hdl.handle.net/10347/34512 UL http://hdl.handle.net/10347/34512 LA eng NO Quiroga-Carrillo, A.; Ferraces Otero, M.J.; Lorenzo Moledo, M.
