AB Las migraciones entre África Occidental y Europa están influenciadas por el legado del colonialismo. Tanto Francia como Portugal dejaron huellas profundas en las regiones que colonizaron, creando vínculos históricos y económicos que persisten hasta la actualidad. Cabo Verde y Senegal son dos casos ilustrativos, ya que ambos tienen una larga historia de emigración hacia Europa, especialmente hacia Portugal y Francia. Desde principios del siglo XXI, la Unión Europea ha implementado medidas más restrictivas con la entrada de migrantes, lo que ha llevado a muchos africanos a seguir rutas migratorias irregulares hacia Canarias. Senegal destaca como uno de los principales países de salida, mientras que Cabo Verde ejerce de centinela de la frontera externalizada y eventual destino para algunas embarcaciones perdidas en el mar.
AB The migrations between West Africa and Europe are influenced by the legacy of colonialism. Both France and Portugal left deep marks in the regions they colonized, creating historical and economic ties that persist to this day. Cape Verde and Senegal are two illustrative cases, as both have a long history of emigration to Europe, especially to Portugal and France. Since the early 21st century, the European Union has implemented more restrictive measures on migrant entry, leading many Africans to follow irregular migration routes to the Canary Islands. Senegal stands out as one of the main countries of departure, while Cape Verde acts as a sentinel of the externa-lized border and eventual destination for some boats lost at sea
