AB [ES]El yacimiento de A Cidadela es, en la actualidad, uno de los más importantes exponentes de la arqueología gallega. Excavado de forma sistemática desde la décadade 1980 por el profesor Caamaño Gesto, su estudio ha resultado fundamental para el conocimiento de la presencia militar romana en el noroeste peninsular o del poblamiento en el rural gallego durante los periodosgermánico y altomedieval. Sin embargo, nuestro cometido aquí no es analizar los resultados de dichas intervenciones sino remontarnos más atrás en el tiempo para ordenar y valorar las poco conocidas excavacionesque tuvieron lugar en el yacimiento entre finales delsiglo XIX e inicios del XX.
AB [EN]A Cidadela is, nowadays, one of the most representative sites of Galician archaeology. It has been systematicallyexcavated since 1980 decade by Prof. Caamaño Gesto and the studies carried there till date have enriched our knowledge of Roman military presence in the northwesternterritories of the Iberian peninsula as well as enlightened our vision of Galician rural landscape during both Germanic and early medieval periods. However, our objective here is not to analyze the results ofthose modern campaigns but to look back in time in order to study the lesser-known archaeological excavations from the last years of the 19th century and the first half of 20th century
