RT Dissertation/Thesis T1 Epigenetic and genetic profiling of cell-free DNA for precision oncology in colorectal and breast cancer A1 Rodríguez Casanova, Aitor K1 Epigenetics K1 Genetics K1 Liquid biopsy K1 Biomarkers K1 Precision oncology AB Colorectal and breast cancer are among the most frequenttypes of cancer. The identification of novel non-invasivegenetic and epigenetic biomarkers is crucial to improve themanagement of this disease. This thesis evaluated theperformance of a novel NGS targeted panel for the noninvasivedetection of clinically relevant gene variants in cell-free DNA (cfDNA). Furthermore, this work characterized thecfDNA methylation profile of colorectal and breast cancerpatients, providing non-invasive epigenetic biomarkers andsignatures useful for the early detection of the disease andtherapy selection. Therefore, the results obtained in this studywill contribute to improve the management of colorectaland breast cancer, facilitating the advance towards precisiononcology.
