AB La Biblioteca de la Universidad de Sevilla cuenta con una colección de Formatos especiales, principalmente obras de gran tamaño, en proceso de estudio, catalogación y difusión. En el presente artículo se presenta el proceso de estudio histórico y material, de diagnóstico de estado de conservación y una propuesta de conservación preventiva general a toda la colección, en la cual se han tenido en cuenta tanto los criterios ideales de intervención como las necesidades de la colección en el momento de estudio, así como los recursos asequibles para la institución que los custodia, el Fondo Antiguo de la Biblioteca de la Universidad de Sevilla, para sacar el mayor provecho de dichas herramientas y establecer un plan de conservación asequible, funcional y viable en un futuro próximo
AB The Seville University Library owns a special size books collection, principally big size pieces, that are in process of study, cataloguing and difusion. In this article is presented the process of historical and material study, as well as a diagnosis of the state of conservation. After this phase of the proyect, it’s proposed a preventive conservation plan applied to the collection. In this plan is considered the ideal guideline to operate, but also the necessities of the collection while its study, and the actual resources of the keeper institution, the Ancient Collection of the Seville University Library, to take advantage of the tools they provide and stablish an affordable conservation plan, which has to be functional and viable in the near future
